For 150 years, from 1813 to 1963, steamboats operated on the Chesapeake Bay moving people and freight between the major metropolitan centers (Baltimore, Washington, Norfolk) and the many small communities along the rivers and creeks of the tidewater. Until the early and mid-1930s, there were no paved roads in most of the rural areas and the steamboat was the lifeline to the outside world. At the peak of the steamboat era (early 1900s), it is estimated that as many as 600 steamboats were working the bay. At least as 50 of these operated on regular schedules out of Baltimore. The last of the boats were the largest - an overnight Baltimore to Norfolk packet - operated by the Baltimore Steam Packet Company - "The Old Bay Line". The more common, and smaller, services and boats were provided by companies such as the Weems Line who operated regular service to the landings on the Western Shore and served the Patuxent, Potomac, and Rappahannock rivers. It is this type of boat which is the pattern for this add-on.

Installation:
This is installed as an Aircraft, not as standard scenery.

Copy or move the folder 'Weems_SB' to your FS9\Aircraft Directory.

Copy the files in the included Effects folder to the FS9\Effects Directory (allow overwrites).

Copy the file in the Traffic folder to the FS9\Scenery\world\scenery Directory.

Copy the AFCAD file (AF2_KLSP.bgl) in the Scenery folder to FS9\Addon Scenery\Scenery Directory

Restart FS9 and the "Calvert" will appear in Baltimore Harbor.

The departure time is 1301 GMT. Approximately 15 minutes later it passes the mouth of Colgate Creek at KBMA on its way to its Western Shore Chesapeake Bay landings and continuing to the Patuxent River landings as far as Lower Marlboro. At Lower Marlboro it begins its return trip to Baltimore, stopping at several more landings on its way downriver, and arriving back at Baltimore around 0300 GMT the next day.

The "Calvert" does not actually stop at the wharves as it did in the real world, but approaches, turns, and leaves for the next landing without stopping. The locations of these landings are as close to historically accurate as the topography in FS9 allows.

The landings, in the order in which they occur, are:

Western Shore-Chesapeake Bay Patuxent River-Return
Fairhaven Magruder's Ferry
Plum Point Milltown Landing
Dares Beach Truemans Point
Governors Run Benedict
					Trent Hall
Patuxent River-Outbound Forrests
Solomons Jones Wharf
Sollers Wharf Sotterly Plantation
Parkers Wharf Spencers Wharf
Williams Wharf Millstone Landing
Dukes(Sheridans Wharf) Pearsons
Holland Point
Leitches Wharf Baltimore
Deep Landing
Lower Marlboro
